Schnepf Farms

10-14-2011
We decided to try a new place for pumpkin pics and hay rides....it's called Schnepf Farms. It was a ways to get to but it was out by Justin and Lindsay so we went together. Unfortunately we also picked a weekend where the heat came back so it was well into the high eighties. None of us had been so it was all new. We first came through the door and the ticket guy was nice and said, "don't forget to get your kids face painted it's free" and we have fireworks at nine tonight.Well each of the kids got something...very cute but then our guy turned to us and said. "You know we work on tips". Then just sat there practically holding his hand out. Stephen didn't have any cash on him and neither did I so he went out and got some. Which I normally wouldn't have bothered me... If he hadn't like sat there and said it so rudely... "where's my tip".

We went inside and immediately there is this awesome little train that takes you around the entire farm so we got tickets (yes more money) and went for a ride. Now I have been on quite a few train rides at different parks. This one was the longest and had the most to see. They also had some Halloween decorations up and graves...so it was really cool. Worth the money and the kids really liked it.
There was an OLD OLD time Merry-go-round that we went on. It was OLD I am not exaggerating here. When I stepped onto the platform to hold onto the kids it tilted and then when Justin and Stephen got on it started to sway...but the kids loved it and it held together! Oh and it didn't cost anything! :)

Next onto the petting Zoo! We stopped along the way at all the penned animals they had (including peacocks-who had an egg they were hatching). There was food you could buy (more money) to feed the animals. They didn't quite know what to do around the roosters and moved onto the goats. They all went inside except Lydia. Feeding them was fun and they even warmed up enough to touch them and Joi gave a baby a big hug!

The larger goats started to jump up onto Justin, they knew he had the food in his hands!

I think Eli's favorite was the Cow. He kept moooooing at him. The baby came up to the cow (this was the closest she was to any of the animals then it put it's head up and looked at her, she started to cry! So I picked her up and that seemed to calm her down.

The park was wonderful. A full train made of wood. Eli just loved it. In fact when it was time to go, Stephen had to pull him OUT of the train screaming.
Everyone was hot and tired by the end of the day.

Ice's helped to cool us all down...yummy! Always a must for me at a fair or carnival or anywhere that serves it outdoors!

Time to take a few snapshots of the kids with pumpkins. Even though your admission price didn't include a pumpkin and they were just really expensive. A picture is worth more right!

I liked the farm but found it too expensive and well, just wish they had more free things to do, oh and that a pumpkin came with the price of admission!
