We left really late in the afternoon on Monday. So we arrived at Big Lake by 8:30 p.m. we had pulled off the road at a meadow and unloaded everything out of the back of the truck so we could sleep in the bed. We barely fit in the back with both of our air mattresses (actually we didn't) but it was fun. The horrible part was that ice formed on everything...we had draped our tents fly over us to protect our sleeping bags but ice still formed and it was even worse for me, I had put the fly over my head so I had ice-cycle's form and then fall onto my face all night. It was FREEZING! The temp got down to about 20 degree's. It was Awesome! :) We woke up the next morning with frost everywhere and packed up and drove to a better spot (you can pick them better in the daylight!)it was just off the Big Lake main road, the NF249, the road to Alpine.
